Isle of Man Tourist Trophy Race 1961

Japanese machines enjoyed a great success in the two lightweight solo events during the first day of the Tourist Trophy Race at Douglas, Isle of Man. Honda machines took the first three placings in both the 125 and 250 cc races. Bob McIntyre of Scotland, on his 250cc Honda machine led for most of the way, but his engine failed on the last lap to let Mike Hailwood ride to victory. Hailwood, riding a Norton, won the Senior International TT motorcycle race. He is the only man ever to win three TT races in one week.
