The 1966 British Grand Prix

The 1966 British Grand Prix was a Formula One race held at Brands Hatch on July 16, 1966. Ferrari did not participate this grand prix weekend to honor a metalworkers strike in Italy. Jack Brabham from pole position, and Graham Hill fought for the lead from the start, until rain storms arrived at the circuit. Whilst Brabham maintained his lead, Jochen Rindt who had changed to rain tyres was catching him rapidly, whilst John Surtees in the Cooper was in 3rd, well clear of the rest of the field. Graham Hill and Jim Clark then battled for 2nd and 3rd until Clark pitted and Denny Hulme took over second place. As the rain dried, Rindt fell back. John Surtees and Graham Hill retired with mechanical problems, leaving Clark in fourth. Brabham duly led home team-mate Hulme, Hill, Clark, Rindt and McLaren.
